Hi my name is John (Jock) Rogers, I am er,,mmmnh 58 years old, some would say too old for this sort of hobby but others would say "your only as old as you feel" and who would deny an aging scot a bit of youthful adventure.
My vehicle of choice is of course the lovely and sometimes misaligned Landrover Defender 130 dual cab utility. I find as a standard vehicle that it suits my purposes, it can take me and the family to just about anywhere in Australia in reasonable comfort, it can hold its own in average off road conditions however the 130 inch wheelbase sometimes is a bit of a hinderance.
Most people believe that Landrovers were the first four wheel drive vehicles invented, this honour however goes to the American made Jeep, which was built by no less than three different companies. these being Willys, Ford, and the real design being created by no less than The American Bantam car (American Austin) which was indeed a subsiduary of the original Austin Motor Company of Great Britain. The name Jeep comes from the abbreviation GP which indicated that G was for a Government vehicle and P stood for the wheelbase of 80 inches.
